Accurate to the gram

Production requirements in the powder industry are becoming increasingly strict. Whereas initially, a dosing accuracy of 100 grams was sufficient for processing bulk materials, the demand came for a much more accurate dosing system. In response to this demand, our engineering department has developed a Micro Dosing System with an accuracy of 1 gram. The Feeder Valve can be used in a batch weighing application as well as in a continuous weighing application. The system uses hardly any energy, has short dosing times, and is applicable in many sectors. The Dinnissen Feeder Valve has been validated by leading producers of milk powder, cocoa powder, creamers, sugars, whey powders, lactose, premixes, and baby food.

  • Very high accuracy, up to the gram
  • Suitable for both batch and continuous weighing systems
  • Energy efficient
  • Short dosing times
  • Validated system

Micro Dosing System

Because the Feeder Valve is coupled to weighing cells before the Feeder Valve (loss-in-weight) or to weighing cells after the Feeder Valve (gain-in-weight), the system can accurately regulate very small quantities in addition to large quantities. How the Feeder Valve is tuned, is matched to the amount of product allowed to flow through. This is a very effective system for adding critical components within a mixing process.

In this video, we show you how our Micro Dosing System works.

Feeder valve overview

Key features, options, and versions

The production capacity of the Feeder Valve can be set from a few kilograms to tens of tons per hour. Depending on the required accuracy, the Feeder Valve can be supplied as a Micro Dosing System with an accuracy of up to one gram. The Feeder Valve consists of a dosing element and one drive unit, making it a very compact system. As the dosing system is easy to clean, the Feeder Valve can be used in many sectors and can process many different substances.

How it works

The Feeder Valve is a powered butterfly valve that allows exactly the desired amount of product to pass through. The feeder valve can be connected to a tube through which the product passes.  Once the amount of product to be passed through is registered, this can be added accurately to the gram. The system can be combined with a batch weighing application where one batch is composed each time but can also be applied in a continuous process.

Highly flexible systems

A Dinnissen liquid dosing system can be supplied in both a casing and a SKID and can be integrated into existing and new settings. The liquid can be weighed before addition, but Dinnissen also has a version with flow measurement. This eliminates the need for a weighing tank and the system takes up less space. We have various nozzle sizes to achieve the desired dosage. In addition, a heating element can be added to increase the viscosity of the product to make it flow more easily.

  • Easy to integrate
  • Available in casing or SKID
  • Flow measurement is possible without weighing tank
  • Nozzles adjusted to liquid volume and viscosity
  • Heating possibility

Key features, options, and versions

Liquid dosing can be done in two ways. In the first option, the liquid to be added is accurately weighed using weighing cells before it is added. The second option uses a flow measurement in the supply line. This has the advantage of no longer requiring a weighing tank. Due to the increasing accuracy, the second option is being used more and more often. With both options, different nozzle sizes are possible to achieve the desired dosage. It is possible to equip the liquid dosing system with a heating element. With this, the viscosity of the product can be increased and more viscous products will start to flow better. The viscosity, solidification temperature and acidity of the liquids place high demands on the equipment. Dinnissen has the necessary knowledge to design systems that meet all the requirements of modern dosing systems.

How it works

A wide variety of raw materials and liquids can be added during the mixing or coating process. These include essential oils, fats, acids, aromas, enzymes, and vitamins. Dinnissen specializes in processing dry products (grains, powders, and granulates). For optimal results, however, the quality of the liquid dosing system is very important. That’s why Dinnissen is happy to take on the development of this component. This way we create full control over pressure, flow, fine particles and optimal integration.

The amount of liquid to be dosed can vary from a few grams to hundreds of kilograms per batch. A Dinnissen liquid dosing system ensures that exactly the right amount of liquid is added. This can be done by weighing the liquid beforehand, but also by measuring the flow in the supply pipe. Based on the application and the desired accuracy, Dinnissen will gladly advise you on the most suitable solution. A liquid dosing system can be used for both batch and continuous dosing. The frequency-controlled pumps ensure that the liquid is dosed at the right speed.
